Hi, I'm Jimmy! My other venture right now is contributing semi-weekly to my college’s newspaper, The Anchor. I'm also setting up a personal blog/website so I can learn how to code. I’ve loved video games for as long as I can remember, but writing about them is something I decided to finally pursue about three years ago.
I’m a PlayStation guy
at heart (Trophy Level 13!), but I’ll play any game on any system as long as
it’s good. I own more consoles than any responsible person should, but let’s be
honest, how many responsible gamers do you know? Those consoles include a PlayStation
3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox 360, and my very own custom PC.
If I had to pick a favorite, all fingers point towards the
Vita, but when games become a factor I’d have to stick with the PlayStation 3.
I don’t like to pick favorites because my favorites change by the hour, but I’m
pretty confident in saying that the Uncharted series tops the list.
In addition to writing, I love to read. Some of my favorite
books include Warm Bodies and The New Hunger by Isaac Marion, Ready Player One
by Ernest Cline, Death Troopers by Joe Schreiber, The Hellbound Heart by Clive
Barker, The Walking Dead: Rise of the
Governor by Robert Kirkman and It’s Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. My
all time favorite comic series is Ultimate Spider-Man, and I really dig a lot
of Star Wars comics, especially Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison.

Video games are my love and writing is my passion. Together, I've dedicated myself to studying and writing about video game culture, news and everything else under that beautiful pixelated blanket. I began my video game journalism journey with my first video game blog pressxtwice.com. While maintaining that, I sneak in video game content at my university's yearbook website, sooneryearbook.com and do as many school assignments over video games as possible. In addition to being a full time blogger, I am also the multimedia editor at Sooner yearbook and a contributor at ThriftyNerd.com.
I believe the console fanboy war is ridiculous and everyone should just have every console - but that doesn't mean we can't have favorites. When it comes down to it, the Xbox is where I spend most of my gaming time. I also own the Wii, PlayStation Vita, PS3, DSi, PS2 and a Game Cube.
There is no such things as a 'favorite' game in my book, but I can spew a list: The Legend of Zelda series, Halo series, Dishonored, BioShock and Fusion Frenzy. Aside from video games, I love watching Once Upon a Time, Game of Thrones, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, playing my clarinet, collecting Pikachu items, drawing, learning Japanese, baking, studying the art of cuteness, and reading.

Hey there, I’m Samantha! I’m currently finishing up my BA in Psychology
at UC Riverside. In between studying for
exams (Well let’s be honest, in most of my waking hours) you can find me either
clutching a controller or gushing about the latest video game news. I’ve always
had a passion for writing and love the idea of using that medium to spread my
love of video games to the world.
Although Super Mario Bros. 3 was the game that ushered me
into this brilliant world, Half Life 2 was the one that kept me here. Playing
as the silent badass Gordon Freeman is still one of my favorite gaming
experiences of all time. Come on Valve! Where’s Half-Life 3?! I don’t like to
pick and choose but some of my personal favorites are: The Last of Us, The
Uncharted Series, Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time, Dead Space, Bioshock, and Dark Souls.
I consider myself first and foremost a campaign gamer. As a
writer, and an avid reader I appreciate a good story line. Although I do engage
in a few multiplayer matches from time to time it’s not my personal preference.
I’m not picky when it comes to consoles. I practically have
them all! I have a SNES, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, WiiU, 3DS, Xbox, Xbox 360,
Playstation Vita, and a PS3! However, if I had to pick one, the Playstation 3
is the one I call home.
Aside from gaming, I have an unhealthy obsession with Netflix
and am an avid reader. Some of my favorite books include: I am Legend, The
Inheritance Cycle, Let the Right One in and The Shining. One day, I hope to
have written a few novels of my own.

Nintendo EditorHelloooooo, I am Edwin! Just a full time college student that devotes too much time to video games. In other words, I am your average college student. I am very opinionated about everything which can get me into trouble sometimes, but I believe it’s a great asset in the world of journalism. How boring would it be if I just agreed with the rest of the world? VERY! The way I see it, the fact that I’m extremely opinionated sparks great debates with others, and if I can bring that out through my writing then I can deem it successful.
Unlike others, my love of video games did not begin with THE
Italian Plumber. Rather it began with a mute and his ocelot partner. If you
don't know who I am talking about, shame on you! The game I’m referring to is
the PS2 classic, Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy. This was not my first
game of course, but it is the one which showed me that some of the best stories
could be told through video games. As I
grew older so did the series. It was just perfect timing.
My favorite genre has and always will be 3D platformers (i.e
Jak and Daxter) with RPGs in a close second. I have every current system,
including most of the older Nintendo consoles. Because I wasn’t always lucky
enough to own every home console growing up, handheld gaming became my thing. At heart I will always be a handheld gamer!
Handhelds FTW!
That is a very basic introduction to my love of both video
games and writing. Hopefully my writing sparks an interest towards something
you had no interest in before.
See you online!!!
