Indie Games Category Added To The PlayStation Store

A month or two ago, I wrote a feature on the PlayStation Vita talking about how Sony is trying very hard to get indie developers to port their games to it's flagship handheld. Pushing this tactic even further, Sony launched a new category in the PlayStation Store called "Indie Games"today.

In a post on The PlayStation Blog, Pierre Gravereau, Senior Manager of Digital Distribution went in depth on why they've added this section to the store.

He said, "This category builds on the support that PlayStation has offered independent developers in the effort to highlight some of the most unique gaming experiences on PlayStation platforms. Most recently, we released four stellar independently developed games during our recent Spring Fever event on the PlayStation Store. We also showcased upcoming PS3 and PS Vita games from indie developers along with highlighting two new games coming to the PS4 during our recent Indie Arcade at GDC."

Sony has been on top of things lately in the sense of showcasing of indie development  It's good to see them taking this step forward in providing a place for indie games to stand out amongst the big-budget AAA titles each week.
