Rayman Legends is Coming to Vita

No, you're not mistaken! The former Wii U exclusive, Rayman Legends is coming to the PlayStation Vita on September 3rd! Originally slated as a Wii U launch window title, fans of the game were extremely disappointed when it was controversially delayed so that it could be ported to other consoles.

The Vita version of the game will include exclusive touch-based maps, and unlike the Vita version of Rayman Origins, it will employ multiplayer as well. Other bonuses include Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia themed levels, along with online challenges.

In a post on IGN, the game's produced Abderrazzak Elkaouni listed some of the Vita version's standout features. He said, “Rayman Legends Vita captures the magic of the other platforms while adding many unique features and fun to the game,” Elkaouni told IGN. “Players can use two consoles in local multiplayer, and play all the levels in the game in co-op mode. You can use the zoom feature at any point in the game, which gives you a chance to check out the graphics in more detail or even find some hidden goodies. One thing we’re really excited to add this year is that players can use the Rear touch pad to avoid blocking the view with their finger.” Additionally, the gyroscope on the Vita will be utilized, along with Facebook integration to post challenge mode scores.

It goes without saying that the Vita version's graphics will be out of this world. Any improvement over last year's Rayman Origins would be astounding, as they were already some of the best on the console. With its five-inch OLED screen, the Vita will provide what is arguably the best looking version of them all.

If you haven't played Rayman Origins, now is the time to do it. It's nice to see all the support that Ubisoft is giving the Vita. Even though it's disappointing that the troubled Wii U is losing an exclusive game, it's refreshing to see that it's making its way to the console that will allow players to take it everywhere they go. Rayman Legends is coming out this fall for PlayStation 3, Wii U, Xbox 360 and now the PlayStation Vita.
