Website Feature: Good Game, Streaming for Charity

Streaming video games for charity isn't new, but unlike some of the larger streams, this stream has a very specific mission. On April 15, the Boston Marathon ended abruptly when two bombs exploded in the area, killing three and injuring hundreds. Victims of the attack and their families are still recovering from their physical and emotional damage Enter Good Game.

Twenty three people - games journalists, YouTubers, developers and more - will be rotating shifts from Friday, May 3 until early Monday, May 6 to stream in the name of charity, specifically the One Fund Boston, Inc.. The charity offers financial support to the Boston Marathon bombing victims.

Good Game was arranged by Philip Kollar, the deputy reviews editor at Polygon. All donations from viewers will be directly donated to the One Fund.

The website is optimized for convenience. With only three pages, it is easy to navigate and is perfect for the stream. All viewers have to do is stay on 'The Stream' page to view the stream, chat,  view the donations widget and the livestream schedule. The donation widget not only displays the amount of contributions, but also allows donors to give right then and there. After clicking the 'pay now' button, you will be redirected to a secure PayPal page.

Even if you can't donate, the stream has promising entertainment value due to the caliber of the streamers and who isn't curious about Janine Hawkins' Sailor Moon/Digimon homebrew RPG thing stream on Sunday night? To get a taste of what's to come on the livestream, check out this stream of Game Dev Tycoon.
